I've been going through all of the BNT games that are still u and running and with the exception of the main game, there are hardly anyone playing BNT. Even at the main game, there are only a little over 2 dozen players left.
So, is BNT really still alive or is it terminal and technically only alive due to life support?

BlackNova Traders Creator Finds a Job
By: Charles Rector | Other | Game Data | 1:49am, February 24, 2003
For quite some time, Ron Harwood the creator of the highly popular
open source space trading strategy game, BlackNova Traders
has been unemployed. However, that has changed recenly as shown from this
cut and paste job from Ron's Job Search :
Greetings...
Allow me to introduce myself... I am Ron, and this is effectively my fancy online resume.
I am an IT professional with a varied background that includes IT security and continuity, systems administration, web-application development, enterprise level web-infrastructure architecture, technical pre/post-sales support, and project management.
My favoured technologies include Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. As a matter of fact, I developed BlackNova Traders (a massively multiplay web-based game) using those technologies - and released it as open source. A search of BlackNova Traders on Google reveals over 20,000 hits - reviews, links, and installations of BNT - and the game installation on my server sees about 4-5 million page views a month. Yes, I'm quite proud of it. ;)
I live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - between Niagara Falls and Toronto, if you're not familiar with the area. I'm willing to work within commuting distance of home, travel as needed, and telecommute. Contract or permanent work is fine (as I've learned that permanent is a very relative term these days).
Have a look at my resume, forward on a link to this site to anyone who you think might be interested in the work I do (and perhaps hire me), or just say "hi" while you're here.
Thanks for dropping by,
Ron Harwood
Employed! Yay!
Yep, got a job - don't have an official start date yet... but still. I'll be working at McMaster University in the Research & High-Performance Computing Support Dept.
Joy, Bliss... less grumpy Ron. I suppose I need to change the name of the site now, eh?

Interviews!
A ray of sunshine at long last. I've had two interviews this week - and have one more scheduled for next week, with the prospect of another in the offing. Yes, I'm even excited at the prospect of an interview at this point.

Scream of great frustration
ARRGGHH!!!
One place says "The problem is that you're overqualified", another says "You're qualifications aren't a proper fit", and yet another says "I'm sorry, you need to have an MCSE certification".

Another FOAD letter...
Dear Ron:
Thank you very much for your interest in [insert role] at [insert company]. However, we have selected a candidate with qualifications that more closely meet our needs.
Well, it beats the resume blackhole - that's for sure - but it doesn't fill your day with sunshine. :)

That phone thingy...
"...and we prefer that resume submitters don't follow up with a phone call..." was what I was told today. Hey, I thought it was a good idea when my email follow-up went unanswered. So I apologised and asked why that was. "We'd be innundated with phone calls if everyone followed up by phone!" Hmph, good point I thought... I asked how many calls did she figure she had received regarding this particular posting... "Um, come to think of it, you're the only person who has called to follow up." - the mind boggles sometimes.

I need a job, not a stroked ego...
I did a phone interview recently, but was not asked to do one in person (I didn't make the short-list. So I asked: "I was wondering if you could give me any advice - is there something in particular about my resume, qualifications, or something else that you may have found lacking?"
...and they answered: "Hi Ron, to be quite honest you were over-qualified for the position and your salary expectations were exceeding our range. We were looking for someone more junior (1-3 years). I did enjoy chatting with you and best of luck in your search."
Woo. I'm overqualified. That's great.

Why job searching sucks these days
All I read in the newspaper (other than the comics of course) is businesses griping that they can't find "qualified IT staff". So I go look at the job postings they have:
Wanted: God
Requirements: Omniscience, omnipotence, billions of years experience minimum, herald of angels a bonus.
Salary: Next to nothing.
